Two arrests after man seriously hurt in hit-and-run

A man and a woman have been arrested after a pedestrian was seriously hurt in a hit-and-run.

Essex Police said the pedestrian, a man in his 50s, was involved in a collision with a black BMW in High Road, Loughton, at about 21:30 BST on Friday, and was taken to hospital.

They arrested two people on suspicion of causing serious injury through dangerous driving and driving while unfit.

The force said they were looking for a third suspect in connection with the incident.

A car thought to be involved in the incident was recovered.

Police appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
