Passengers are warned of further disruption to sailings on Wednesday

Two ferry sailings between the Isle of Man and Lancashire have been cancelled due to gales over the Irish Sea, with a further two sailings at risk.

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company said journeys of the flagship vessel Manxman at 19:15 GMT on Tuesday and 01:45 on Wednesday would not go ahead.

Passengers have been warned the 08:00 and 13:45 crossings on Wednesday could also be delayed or cancelled.

Those with tickets for affected services could amend their bookings online or by contacting the reservations team, the government-owned ferry firm said.

Ronaldsway Met Office has also issued a yellow weather warning for wintery showers between 03:00 GMT and midday on Wednesday.

Forecasters said accumulations of snow or hail were possible on higher roads, along with a risk of ice in places.
