A person was airlifted to hospital after falling in a woodland and landing on a set of large boulders.

Edale Mountain Rescue Team members were called to the land below Haywood car park in Grindleford, Derbyshire, at 12:09 GMT on Sunday.

The team said a group of friends were walking when one of them "slipped from height" and fell on to the boulders.

The injured individual was treated for multiple injuries at the scene before being taken by air ambulance to Sheffield General Hospital's trauma unit.

A spokesperson for the mountain rescue team said: "We wish the casualty all the best for a full recovery."
