Fraud accused denies swindling women of money
BBCA man accused of defrauding seven women out of thousands of pounds has appeared in court.
Marc Cole-Jones, 52, from Telford, in Shropshire, appeared at Chester Crown Court, where he denied 25 fraud charges amounting to an alleged £645,791.
The charges relate to seven women from Cheshire, Lancashire, Shropshire, Warwickshire, Manchester, and the West Midlands and his alleged scams are alleged to have taken place during a 15-year period, between 2009 and 2024.
Cole-Jones, also known as Marc Cole, Marcus Cole-Jones and Marc Sands, was released on bail and will face trial, which is scheduled for 28 June.
The charges, which were all read in court, cover alleged lies the defendant used to obtain money by portraying himself as under threat of violence to repay debts, that he was a successful businessman arranging investments, and that he needed money for private heart surgery.
He was released on bail, which includes conditions not to contact directly or indirectly the seven women and to provide phone and bank details to the police.
