Plans to convert former government office into hotel
BBCThe new owners of what was one of Belfast's largest government offices are planning to convert most of the building into a hotel.
Clarence Court on Adelaide Street is the former headquarters of the Department for Infrastructure.
The seven storey building was recently bought by a company associated with the Portadown-based McQuade family.
That company has now filed a pre-application planning notice setting out the broad redevelopment plan.
It says the intended scheme will include a 180 bedroom hotel along with offices.
Belfast has seen a steady pace of new hotel development and refurbishments in the years since the pandemic.
The 82 bedroom Bedford hotel is due to open in the city centre at the start of May while the 228 bedroom Aloft & Residence Inn will open in the Titanic Quarter next month.
