Investigation after two prisoners die in two days
PA MediaTwo prisoner deaths in two days at a prison in Lancashire are being investigated by the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman.
The two men died at HMP Wymott, near Leyland, which houses over 1,100 prisoners across 11 units.
Elfed Jones, 30, died on 26 January and 76-year-old Gerald Martin died two days later.
No further details have been released by the Ombudsman.
Jones was jaled for nine years in 2020 for a "senseless" attack in Bangor, Wales, where a man had part of his ear bitten off and was stabbed and slashed with a knife.
Former undertaker Martin was jailed for 20 years in November 2016 at Teesside Crown Court after being convicted of abusing five boys.
