Resident doctors are striking over pay, while the government says it will not increase it.

Resident doctors are striking between 07:00 GMT on Wednesday until 07:00 on 22 December.

The doctors' union, the British Medical Association, said it was time the government came up with "a genuinely long-term plan" on pay and jobs.

This is the 14th walkout by resident doctors in the long-running pay dispute.

Resident doctors in England are striking between 17 and 22 December, the 14th walkout since 2023.

The health secretary should focus on offering a deal instead of "scaremongering the public", the BMA says.
