Could you become Blue Peter's junior TV chef? Can You Cook It? AuditionsFrom Friday 2nd to Sunday 11th March, the Blue Peter team, including presenters Konnie Huq and Andy Akinwolere, were on the road with their mobile kitchen in search of a junior television cook to join them in the studio throughout 2007. 1 of 15: CBBC presenter Sam Nixon and Blue Peter presenter Konnie Huq. 2 of 15: The contestants had to show off their skills in a special mobile kitchen, in the hope that they may become Blue Peter's new cook! 3 of 15: Blue Peter presenter Andy Akinwolere takes part in cooking demonstrations with the BBC Good Food magazine team. 4 of 15: Out of the thousands of young hopefuls who applied, just 360 would-be TV cooks were shortlisted to attend the auditions across the UK. 5 of 15: Hardeep Kohli, comedian and runner up in Celebrity MasterChef, joined Konnie at every audition. They were joined in Leeds by special guest Sam Nixon. 6 of 15: TV chefs have to be able to talk and cook at the same time! 7 of 15: Andy Akinwolere adds the icing to the cake at a cooking demonstration. 8 of 15: CBBC presenter Sam Nixon was one of the special guest judges at the Leeds audition. 9 of 15: When you're cooking on live TV, there are lots of things that can go wrong - so it's handy to have 'one I prepared earlier'! 10 of 15: Fellow contestants await their turn anxiously! 11 of 15: Blue Peter presenter Andy Akinwolere cooks up a feast in front of the budding young chefs. 12 of 15: Contestants didn't have to be the best cook in the world, but they did need to have what it takes to present their recipes on TV. 13 of 15: It was a tough choice for the judging panel, as the standard was very high! 14 of 15: Move over Jamie, Gordon, Antony and Delia! 15 of 15: Could the judges be looking at a TV chef of the future? Where did they go?The Blue Peter team travelled to Glasgow, Leeds, Peterborough, Cardiff, Exeter and London auditioning children aged between 7 and 14 for this unique opportunity. What happens next?The 12 finalists will go on to take part in a residential boot camp with the Blue Peter presenters where they will learn skills in TV presenting and cooking. After the boot camp, three finalists will be chosen to come to the Blue Peter Studio for the final cook off. Blue Peter viewers will then vote for the Blue Peter Cook of 2007. |
