You have made the hat that is going to whisk you off to the land of magic. Now William is going to show you how to make a wizard's wand. Just follow our easy instructions and you too can make magic just like Harry Potter! WARNING: Scissors can be dangerous! Make sure you ask an adult to help you before you start on your wand. What you will need: One tabloid-sized newspaper A packet of wallpaper paste Masking tape Paints and a paintbrush Clear varnish or a PVA solution

| Step 1 Take a couple of double sheets from the newspaper and fold them out flat one on top of the other, then roll them up tightly. | Step 2 Fold one third of the roll back on itself and tape the two arms together. | |

| Step 3 Mix up a small amount of paste in a small throwaway container (a yoghurt pot is ideal). Tear more newspaper into small strips. Cover the strips with paste and cover the wand with them, making sure to smooth down any folds or bumps.
| Step 4 When the wand is completely dry, you can begin to paint it. Take some brown paint and cover the wand with two coats. Leave it to dry. | | | Step 5 Once the paint has dried you can add any details you like. We have put some gold paint on the tip of the wand. When you have finished the detailing, leave the wand to dry then varnish it and leave it to dry again. | Now you can team up your hat with your wand and make magic! If you are going trick-or-treating read the tips on staying safe. |
