Yaxham Light Railway is a privately-owned collection of narrow gauge locomotives, rolling stock and track in the gardens of the former station master's house at Yaxham Station on the Dereham to Wymondham railway line.
The railway is some 400 metres of track adjacent to the former BR line, now operated by the Mid-Norfolk Railway Preservation Trust.
Yaxham Light Railway operates an interesting collection of industrial railway equipment acquired over the years from quarries and other locations throughout the country.
This includes two steam locomotives and 10 diesel locomotives, running on 2 ft gauge track (600 mm).
Passenger trains are usually hauled by a variety of vintage diesel locomotives. The trains can carry up to 18 adults on each journey, lasting 10 minutes. Visiting members of Mid-Suffolk Light Railway |
