REPORT OF THE NNREC CHAIR John Vinookumar In this report I wish to bring the full council up to date on the major action outputs in the past 12 months. I am indeed proud of what has been achieved and of the way the NNREC works in partnership with mutual respect and support. We have already begun the work programme for 2000/2001 and future action depending upon maintaining the equalities partnership as exemplified at the ‘Next Steps for Norfolk - Stephen Lawrence Conference’, which took place in November 1999. I begin with that output in my list of last year’s major work programme outputs. Stephen Lawrence Inquiry - ‘Next Step for Norfolk’, 18th November 1999 Race Relations (Amendment) Bill, consultation and active lobbying for implementation Prison in Norwich and Wayland Additional Staffing at NNREC: Appointment of Racial Equality Officer (CRE funded) Appointment of Administrative Officer (LA funded) Appointment of Community Race Development Officer (LA funded) Appointment of Administrative Assistant (Voluntary Post) Tackling Racism in Schools Regional Work: Presentations (3) Regional Conferences GO-EAST Partnership work and Single Regeneration Bid and other community / regeneration initiatives Black & Minority Ethnic Voluntary Sector (capacity building) forum CRE Core Standards training and implementation of first 7 areas to level 1 CRE - Launch and action on Leadership Challenge
