Meet the Buchanans

Scottish enthusiasts from around the world join the Clan Buchanan family in deepest Perthshire for the inauguration of their newly confirmed chief, the Scottish millionaire landowner Mike Buchanan.

Without a chief for 300 years, and few historical records to rely on, ceremony and dress are being freely invented. Are the Buchanans reinvigorating Scottish tradition as they say, or following in the tradition of their famous ancestral house guest Sir Walter Scott, the writer who created the romanticised image of Scotland that still endures to this day.

This irreverent documentary takes a sideways look at how traditions are created and witnesses history being made, or at least made up.
