Sherwood: ‘I told Kane to stay at Spurs’

Tim Sherwood reveals how he advised Harry Kane to stay at Tottenham and prove his worth.

Before breaking into the first team at Spurs, Kane had spent time on loan at various Football League clubs. When Kane returned to White Hart Lane following a loan spell at Leicester, Sherwood, who was coach of the U21s at the time, told Kane “no more loans” and urged him to “focus on training with the first team”.

Sherwood believes that the decision to fight for his place has been vindicated, as he now sees Kane as the “main man” at Spurs.
