Sunderland midfield v Arsenal ‘Championship at best’ – Nevin

Former Scotland winger says Sunderland supporters had ‘no anger left’ after watching their team lose 4-1 at home to Arsenal in the Premier League, with the midfield looking ‘Championship at best.’

The defeat leaves David Moyes’ side bottom of the table, with only two points from their opening 10 matches of the season.

“This is worse than before and looking around the fans and listening to them it sounded awful,” said Nevin.

“There’s no anger left there was just capitulation.

“If you’ve got Kirchhoff, Larsson and Cattermole these are players with a bit of passion, a bit of heart and bit of experience.”

“They’ve (currently) got a bunch of players in midfield, and I’m telling you in simple terms, they aren’t good enough as a group to be in the Premier League.

“They looked a Championship side at best but get those other players back and they have got a chance of being competitive, today they didn’t even look competitive,” he added.
