Man Utd decision may have been in refereeās mind for Vardy red - Nevin
Former Scotland winger Pat Nevin says referee Craig Pawsonās decision not to send Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo off against Crystal Palace would have been in his mind when dismissing Leicesterās Jamie Vardy against Stoke.
The England striker was shown a red card after 28 minutes for a two footed challenge on Mame Diouf, drawing comparisons to a challenge by Rojo for which the defender was given a yellow card.
āWe all looked at it and thought it was a definite stick-on of a red card for Rojo, and heās thought to himself, well I canāt make that mistake,ā Nevin said.
āHad he got yellow youād have said, fair enough.
āLetter of the law and when youāve got that pressure of what you havenāt done in the Manchester United game, thereās no surprise whatsoever the referee has called it as a sending off,ā he added.
