Mahrez ‘really is lacking in confidence’

Former Premier League winner Chris Sutton believes one of Leicester’s key weaknesses in their battle against relegation is a Riyad Mahrez’s lack of confidence.

“You looked at Leicester last season in games when they went on to win the title he was the difference, the creator, the spark, would nick a goal in a tight game. He really is lacking confidence and they don’t look like scoring a goal,” Sutton assessed.

Mahrez, who was named 2016 PFA player of the year, has scored just three goals in the Premier League this season.

Premier League champions Leicester are just one point above the relegation zone after suffering a 3-0 defeat at home by Manchester United, and left them still searching for a first league win in 2017.
