Neville: FA chief shouldn’t comment on England’s performance

Ex-England defender Phil Neville has hit back at Football Association chief executive Martin Glenn’s criticisms of the national side.

Speaking at the Leaders in Sport conference, Glenn said ā€œEngland players do not travel wellā€ and described their performance against Iceland at Euro 2016 as ā€œshameā€.

However, Neville believes Glenn should not be ā€œcommenting on the football sideā€ and should ā€œjust leave it to [manager] Gareth Southgateā€.

BBC senior football reporter Ian Dennis also criticised Glenn’s comments, stating that England ā€œdo travel wellā€ in qualifying.
