Neville: FA chief shouldn’t comment on England’s performance

Ex-England defender Phil Neville has hit back at Football Association chief executive Martin Glenn’s criticisms of the national side.

Speaking at the Leaders in Sport conference, Glenn said “England players do not travel well” and described their performance against Iceland at Euro 2016 as “shame”.

However, Neville believes Glenn should not be “commenting on the football side” and should “just leave it to [manager] Gareth Southgate”.

BBC senior football reporter Ian Dennis also criticised Glenn’s comments, stating that England “do travel well” in qualifying.
