Ibiza Opening Party - Seb Fontaine

Seb Fontaine officially opened the Radio 1 Ibiza season at Cafe Del Mar. It was his first show in Ibiza for Radio 1, and a change of venue from the more traditionally up-for-it Mambo meant that no one knew what to expect. It was early evening and the crowd assembled on the beach were still doing their best to catch the last few hours of sunlight.

Seb arrives early and poses for pictures with his fans, before getting the full story on the best places to go to in Newcastle after the Love Parade

Seb starts the show

It's six o'clock local time and Seb cues up his first tune of the show. Then...

Chillin

...Ibiza season is officially open. A small crowd had gathered on the beach in front of the Cafe Del Mar to sunbathe in the late afternoon. As six o'clock approached it looked like it was going to be a bit of a chilled out one...

The crowd got to their feet

...How wrong we were. The crowd were up for it as Seb eased them from their sun loungers and on to the sand for a dance

Though some needed a little more persuading. Hardly surprising though considering it was the hottest day so far this year in Ibiza

Pink was the colour

What always amazes us about the Radio 1 parties in Ibiza is the effort people make. Though the party was on the beach, so many members of the crowd were dressed up like they were ready for a night at Pacha. Pink was the in colour...

Looking cool

...And looking cool was essential. Sadly, this guy loses 10 cool points for trying too hard

The stag boys

And whilst these guys scored nil on the coolometer, their party spirit was off the gauge. Do we forgive them for the wigs? Suppose so

Doing it for England

If there was an Olympics for sunbathing, these girls would be head of the English team...

Doing it for Wales

...Whilst this girl is dancing for Wales

Seb hands over to Jules

It gets closer to eight o'clock and the crowd outside the Cafe Del Mar is beginning to swell as people prepare for a big night out. Seb hands over the turntables to Jules then heads straight to the Airport where a private jet is waiting to take him to Cream
