The Garlands Workers Party @ Bahia
Updated 20th Sept 2001
Garlands from Liverpool made its debut in Ibiza in the back room at Eden on a Tuesday nights, it instantly became a worker's favourite. In a way of showing their gratitude for a season of support, the scouse heroes threw a massive workers pool party at Ministry of Sound's Bahia Hotel. It was free drinks, free food, free toys and a free massage for all those workers who make the island tick. Sure, Ibiza has all the DJs and promoters, but without the PR people and bar workers, nothing would happen on the island. After surviving on a few thousand pesetas a week, the workers lapped it all up...

Everyone wore their best hairstyles for the workers party... except for this guy of course

Fergie got into the spirit of things by choosing appropriate head wear for a Spanish pool party. Did he know he was about to set the look of the day?

When 100 sombreros were thrown out into the crowd all Hell let loose in the scramble to get one. "No, honest guys, you don't look like you belong in the West End wearing them"

Those who didn't get a hat had to settle for stripping off their clothes and having their bodies painted

After a hard season of working and partying 24/7, the workers took advantage of the free massages on offer...

...and the free drinks. Once the free punch bowl had run dry the bar was under siege

New York diva, Barbara Tucker, dropped in to do in impromptu set, including 'Beautiful People' and 'Stop Playing With My Mind'

All the island's resident DJs were invited to play half hour sets. Ex-Take That-er, Howard Donald dropped by to spin a few tunes too, much to the delight of the girls

As night fell more workers turned up, ready to party. With so many workers calling in sick to be at the party it's a wonder you could get a drink anywhere else on the island

With a thousand workers going nuts in San Antonio Bay, it was no surprise that the police decided to shut the party early. That didn't stop the crowd from partying as everyone headed down to Eden for the after party

At the after party Brandon Block strips off and tries out as a podium dancer. Expect to see him back behind the turntables next season

It was a euphoric end to a season for the workers who made Garlands their home this summer. As morning arrived the party moved on to QPQ for the after-after-party, and the workers now had a good reason for missing yet another day's work...
