Take a look at our guide to Cardiff Clubbing for a top night out to get you in the mood for One Big Weekend. And if you think we've missed somewhere tell us about it!
Liv: "For the booty-clapping, hip shaking, body grooving, dance floor athletes of you all, try the Welsh Club aka CLWBIFORbACH and enter into musical delights from Hip Hop to Drum n Bass, to Indie. Or there again, try the Toucan Club. Notorious for its GREAT atmos with a bar/club combo, it plays anything from world music to the hippest of hip hop nights, including lino for any brave break dancers!"
Ros: "For a relaxed, dance like a div but not give a monkeys venue try The Emporium - as seen in the film Human Traffic. I've had some quality nights here and it's nice to go out in trainers without fear of getting turned away. The dΓ©cor is bizarre - almost gothic, with wrought iron gates and dark little corners. From hip hop to US house, Emporium is fairly cheap and a good laugh!"
Fletch:"The only bar that plays decent music on a saturday night is BSB "the place" on Windsor Place in Cardiff (quite a hidden street). It's one of Cardiff's "places to be seen in". From 9pm til 2am on the Saturday of One Big Weekend there are two of Cardiff's up and coming turntablist talents, who scratch and blend all sorts of stuff including deep funk, hip hop, breaks, and rock n roll. (Plus it's also one of a few bars in the city centre with a heated beer garden all year round!)."
Ros:"For a top club night, try Creation This is a fairly new 'super' club but is really making its mark on the Cardiff nightlife. The bar houses a dance floor and chill out sofas while next door is where the real action is - two rooms of different music - Saturday nights see dance and house in the main room and R&B next door, while the chill out room lets you recharge your batteries before blagging your way upstairs to the VIP room! "
Rhys B:"BarFly Have good up and coming live bands, it's reasonably priced and situated opposite the Castle by the top of Queen Street. Metros usually have a live band, heavy metal/rock. With cheap beer/cider/aftershock, you get the idea. Sams Bar On Mill Lane, is a pub which usually has a live music and can get quite busy (and annoying to get to the bar)." | | |
