Friction and Lubrication

V-Rollerbot Robot Build Lesson 6

The robot's plastic wheels have a very smooth surface. Unfortunately, this means that the wheels are not able to grip very well. Wheel grip can be improved by stretching a rubber band around a wheel. The rubber does not slip as easily as smooth plastic. When oil or grease is added between two surfaces the surfaces will slide more easily. Can you think of any parts of the robot that need to slide easily?
