Royal Northern Sinfonia, conducted by Nil Venditti, join forces with violinist Maria Włoszczowska for a concert of vivid contrasts. The programme begins with «rewind« by Anna Clyne, a propulsive and atmospheric opener. At its centre is Sergei Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No. 2, full of sharp wit, lyrical beauty and sudden, unpredictable twists. The evening concludes with Felix Mendelssohn’s ‘Scottish’ Symphony, sweeping from misty mystery to windswept grandeur - a journey of spiky brilliance and Romantic atmosphere.
