Ireland captain Lorcan Tucker: "It was a mixed powerplay, we lost a few more wickets than we planned to, but it felt like the pitch was good and we tried to capitalise.

"We got through that tricky middle period, and George and Gareth also played brilliantly towards the end."

  3. IRELAND WIN BY 96 RUNSpublished at 09:05 GMT 14 February

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 08:57 GMT 14 February

    Sufyan Mehmood c R Adair b McCarthy 10 (Oman 139)

It's all over as Sufyan Mehmood pulls Barry McCathy to leg, but the ball loops gently up to Ross Adair at midwicket.

  6. Oman 136-9published at 17 overs

Nice from Shah Faisal as the tailender drives Mark Adair back over his head for four, then partner Sufyan Mehmood hooks him around the corner for another off the last.

  7. Oman 124-9published at 16 overs

It's been a quick slide to oblivion from 97-2 in the 11th over.

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 15.4 overs

    Shakeel Ahmed c and b Humphreys 5 (Oman 121-9)

The Oman house of cards is collapsing as Shakeel Ahmed lofts Matthew Humphreys straight up, the bowler shouting for it to claim his second wicket.

  9. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 14.4 overs

    Nadeem Khan b Little 0 (Oman 115-8)

The tailender backs away and is bowled off his pads.

This will be good for the net run rate as well for Ireland.

  10. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 14 overs

    Jiten Ramanandi c M Adair b Little 3 (Oman 114-7)

Jiten Ramanandi swipes, the ball loops high into the Colombo sky and Mark Adair pouches it with ease.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 08:31 GMT 14 February

Hammad run out 46 (Oman 113-6)

Oh dear. Jiten Ramanandi and Hammad Mirza try for two, but it's never on and Hammad is miles short of his ground.

He is absolutely steaming, gesticulating at his partner and throwing his bat away as he crosses the rope. I can't blame him, he was going well and deserved a 50 at least.

  12. Oman 110-5published at 13 overs

Some consolation for 44 year-old Aamir Kaleem, who became the oldest player to score a 50 at a men's T20 World Cup, besting the previous record holder Sanath Jayasuriya by a year.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 08:25 GMT 14 February

The wheels are coming off for Oman.

  14. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11.4 overs

    Vinayak c Humphreys b Dockrell 0 (Oman 107-4)

George Dockrell, refreshed after that slam-bang 35 off just nine deliveries earlier, is into the attack with his left arm spin.

And with his fourth ball he snares Vinayak Shukla!

The ball is driven to cover and straight into Matthew Humphreys' bread-basket.

  15. Oman 102-3published at 11 overs

    Target: 236

A bouncer eludes Lorcan Tucker and flies away for wides, seeing Oman past 100.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 08:16 GMT 14 February

    Aamir c Humphreys b McCarthy 50 (Oman 97-3)

The opener's fun is over, as he lifts the ball towards long leg, only to see Matthew Humphreys run in to take a good catch low in front of him.

Barry McCarthy shakes his fist in relief.

  17. 6 runs

    Oman 97-2published at 11 overs

Hammad Mirza fancies this - he lifts Barry McCarthy high over midwicket for six then flicks the next, loose down leg, for another four.

  18. 50 to Aamir Kaleempublished at 08:13 GMT 14 February

The opener guides McCarthy away for a single to reach 50 off 28 deliveries - an excellent knock.

  19. Oman 85-2published at 10 overs

These two are batting well, but they are getting towards three per ball needed!

Harry Tector's gentle, Kevin Pietersen-esque off spin is next. A short one sits up nicely for Hammad, who has the time to slap it away past cover for four.

It's the halfway stage and Ireland are in the box seat.

  20. Oman 76-2published at 9 overs

    Target: 236

Aamir Kaleem steams on, smashing Josh Little past point for four.

More runs from the over sees the partnership move past 50.
