Crawley Town striker Danilo Orsi says he "hasn't stopped smiling" after returning to the club, 18 months on from helping them to promotion to League One.

The 29-year-old scored 25 goals in 50 appearances, including one in the 2024 League Two play-off final as the Red Devils were promoted to League One, with a 2-0 win over Crewe Alexandra.

Orsi was sold to Burton Albion that summer and has since had spells at MK Dons and AFC Wimbledon before rejoining Crawley, who are currently 21st in League Two after relegation last season, earlier this week.

"It's fantastic to be around the same people as before, wanting to get the club out of the position that we are in," Orsi told BBC Radio Sussex.

"There's a lot of exciting things that can happen now, with the new ownership and back with the gaffer (Scott Lindsey) and the way he plays."

Orsi is one of eight players signed already this month by boss Lindsey, who is overhauling his squad.

Crawley are on a 10 match winless run in League Two and sit just a point outside of the relegation zone.

In their promotion-winning season of 2023-24, Crawley sat 15th following a draw with Walsall in mid-February before putting together a late run for the play-offs.

"Never say never," said Orsi. "You see what Doncaster did a few seasons ago, but we need to put the club in the best position for the summer.

"We saw in the 23-24 season what a good pre-season under this manager can do. Hopefully we can do it (promotion) again."

Lindsey has also brought back midfielder Klaidi Lolos, 25, on loan from Peterborough United, who was another key part of Crawley's previous success.

"I've got good memories here, it feels like I'm home," said Lolos.

"It's been a rough half a season, I didn't know what the players were like, but I've been surprised - there's a lot of good players in the building.

"We've got a good team, I can't see why we can't go on and do good things."
