Tomorrow, England return to action for the conclusion of Group C.

Albania's failure to defeat Spain means England are through to the last 16 as one of the best third-placed teams at the very least.

Gareth Southgate's side, however, will have their eyes set on qualifying as group winners.

The Italy national team delegation head enjoyed that.

You might recognise him as goalkeeping legend Gianluigi Buffon, who only retired from playing last summer at the age of 45.

Luka Modric, 38, is the oldest goalscorer in European Championship history - and just the second player to score at four different editions of the Euros after Cristiano Ronaldo (five).

Ronaldo, 39, will break Modric's record if he scores for Portugal at any stage this summer.

Italy’s Gianluigi Donnarumma has conceded just two of his last seven penalties faced at the Euros finals, saving four of them, with one hitting the woodwork.

That includes the Euro 2020 final shootout win over England.

Croatia have still never lost to Italy since joining Fifa in 1994 - six draws and three wins. Probably not much consolation right now.

You have to feel for him the way it has ended for him.

Mattia Zaccagni’s 98th-minute goal is the ninth goal in injury time at the end of a game at Euro 2024. There were only five in all of Euro 2020.

It was his first goal for Italy.

The longer the game went on we were thinking Italy didn't have enough quality.

There was nothing in front of goal until Mattia Zaccagni.

Italy were under huge pressure and they had to get a piece of magic from somewhere.

The save before Luka Modric's goal was great, he will be annoyed with his defenders for not backing him up after making such a great save.

I'm not sure anyone in the stadium can quite believe what has happened. Luka Modric is walking around the centre circle and being consoled by his team-mates. He's got an Italy shirt draped around his neck, hands on his face - it's not that much of a consolation for the goalscorer to hear he's been named man of the match.

Football is madness!

The first half was uninspiring.

The second half we were wondering when Croatia would go for it. They came out and looked the better team.

For Italy it was, could they find the moment in the game - a wonderful finish from Mattia Zaccagni, the Lazio winger.

Italy's reward for that astonishing finish? A game against Switzerland in the last 16 in Berlin on Saturday (17:00 BST kick-off).

Spain will have to wait to discover their opponents on Sunday in Cologne (20:00 kick-off).

They will face a third-placed finisher.
