Eight days later than planned, the FA Cup third round has wrapped up in a manner befitting the old competition.

Two teams who gave it everything, five goals, moments of brilliance, mistakes, controversial calls, with a prize to die for at the end of it all.

And it's Salford who claim that prize of a trip to Manchester City as they reach the fourth round for the first time in their history.

What's the worst that can happen? Well, they lost 8-0 to the same opponents at the same venue 12 months ago.

Surely the only way from that result is up...

Salford City and Swindon Town will need to turn their attention back to League Two on Saturday as we have 12 games to look forward to.

The Robins are second, above the Ammies on goal difference alone and face a trip to leaders Bromley, while Salford will host lowly Bristol Rovers.

For those of you who joined us late, here's a recap of what happened.

Ryan Graydon, with goals early in each half, had Salford two goals up and in a degree of comfort.

But two in five minutes from Ollie Palmer and James Ball dragged Swindon level.

However, Luke Garbutt's brilliant free-kick won it for the hosts.

The Ammies had a strong case for a penalty turned down, the Robins had an equaliser ruled out.

And an unlikely Tuesday night FA Cup minor classic was done.

For the third time this season, and the second time in three days, Salford come out on top of a five-goal game with Swindon.

Six league points already pocketed and now an FA Cup fourth round tie to look forward to at Etihad Stadium on Valentine's Day against Pep Guardiola's Manchester City.

Salford are close to heading back to the Etihad Stadium for a second year in a row.

Salford have four minutes of injury time to see out.

Salford have a free-kick as we tick towards 90 minutes.

They are not running the clock down.

Luke Garbutt goes for goal. It's on target, but it's down the throat of Connor Ripley.

This cup tie is having a bonkers second half.

There was a little bit of a melee, I don't see many people complaining.

We don't have the benefit of the replay but I'm sure there will be talking points after the game.

Ryan Tafazolli thinks he has equalised.

The referee says goal, but his assistant has flagged!

Drama!

And a correct call as Ollie Palmer fouled Matt Butcher in the build-up before Tafazolli bundled home.

Five minutes or so to go, these two League Two sides have served up a treat.

And now Michael Olakigbe's attempt is deflected just beyond the back stick.

What a cup tie this is!

Attempts at both ends. Ollie Palmer buccaneers his way into the Salford area but under pressure from Brandon Cooper, he can't get a clean shot away.

Then Salford work it up to Kelly N'Mai in the area. He goes for the curler and it lands on the roof of the net.

Oh, that is so nice from Kelly N'Mai as he shows good footwork inside the box.

It creates space for a shot as he pokes it goalwards and it finishes in the side-netting.

It looks like Connor Ripley gets something on it, but the outcome is a goal-kick.

N'Mai has impressed tonight.

Even more incredible as it was only 1-0 after 52 minutes, Ben.

Now Swindon have to respond with changes.

Joe Snowdon and Jake Tabor are thrown on for captain Tom Nichols and Joel McGregor.
