  3. 'This result shows our mentality'published at 14:49 GMT 15 February

    FT: Everton 1-0 West Ham

    Everton

Everton player of the match Yuka Momiki: "I think this game was not easy to play because we know every game is tough but three wins in a row is massive in the league. It was a big team effort today.

"We tried to score another goal but they put the ball in behind us. Our defence was really massive today.

"I think this season has been a little bit tough to be playing at our home ground but we are building a winning mentality at home so I think this result shows our mentality."

  4. 'It shows a lot about the character we have in this team'published at 14:47 GMT 15 February

Chelsea boss Sonia Bompastor speaking to Sky Sports: "Really pleased with the result. As I said before every game is really important for us. Right now we are performing well in the basics. It took us a while to score the first goal but in the second half we took control of the game."

On Lauren James: "A good performance from LJ, she helped the team to win the game and scored a great goal. She is trying to get back to her best level and she is doing really well right now. I'm really pleased with how she is playing and how she contributes to the team."

On the performance given the pressure on the group: "Everyone can be proud of each other in this team, staff and players. This week has been really tough for us in terms of emotions, so to be able to come and put the focus on football and put the performance we have today shows a lot about the character that we have in this team."

  5. 'We deserved more than that result'published at 14:46 GMT 15 February

FT: Man Utd 2-1 London City Lionesses

    London City Lionesses

London City Lionesses manager Eder Maestre: "Really frustrating. I really thought the team performed very well today. The other day against Everton, we were vey dominant and were frustrated not having the result we deserved.

"Today too, we thought we deserved much more than that result. We need to take the good things. We were facing one of the best team in Europe. The way we are facing teams like United and Manchester City, I am very proud of the team and the way we are moving. It's frustrating on one hand but we trust in the process.

"Second half, they were more happy to take risks. They were more consistent in how to manage the first balls and avoid our counter attacks. But we were good in defence. We couldn't just connect that last shot but it's football.

"I want to tell my players to keep pushing because we are moving forward. I am very proud of them."

On defender Wassa Sangare, who was injured in warm-up: "We need to check. Hopefully, we are able to have her back for the FA Cup."

Manchester United manager Marc Skinner: "I couldn't be any prouder of the team. An incredibly hard-fought victory after a gruelling midweek fixture. I am really proud of every single one of the players but special mention to Millie Turner who's come back from injury and into the team and scored the winner."

On whether rotations affected first-half performance: "Yes, but it's nothing against players who have come in. It's just different. We are proud of the way we reacted especially after going a goal down. I said to them at the end of the game it's one of the wins of the seasons for us so far because of the circumstances.

On Jess Park: "She doesn't just do it once. She does it all the time. It's hard to mark her. Jess is like a kid who plays with her mates. She plays the purest form of football and you could see that quality today."

Man City are understandably getting all the press for (likely) ending Chelsea's dominance, but Spurs are having a remarkable season. Absolutely no one had them as competitors for the top-four at the start of the season. Really impressive.

Aston Villa boss Natalia Arroyo: "A tough result of course - we were unable to stop them. They were ruthless and clinical in every action they had and didn't allow us to breathe for one second

"It was like being thrown in a swimming pool and not allowed to get air - it was cruel. I am really sorry and disappointed. We don't want to lose a game, we don't want to concede seven goals and we need to do better.

"But I saw a team fighting, saw passion and pride and trying to give something to smile for fans. We will have a few weeks to work together and hopefully get fresh legs, more options and a deeper bench. I am proud of scoring three goals and will take some of the positives but we can’t let teams score almost all of chances they have. See if can close our house."

  9. 'We always say the game is won in both boxes'published at 14:34 GMT 15 February

    Chelsea 2-0 Liverpool

    Liverpool

More from Liverpool boss Gareth Taylor on the areas his side can improve: "It is always the top end of the pitch, to have that craft and decision making. Again as we always say the game is won in both boxes. We need to defend better and be better in the duels.

If we are not going to be mega great in the duels then we have to be better on the ball. When we have it between the lines with our decision making, in the final third count we really have to make it count.

  10. 'Pleased but disappointed we didn't take something'published at 14:32 GMT 15 February

Liverpool boss Gareth Taylor speaking to Sky Sports: "A little bit disappointed because we had quite a few spells in the game and the identity we showed is more like what I was looking for. We put this game in the same category as Manchester United a couple of weeks ago - they were contrasting performances and we felt we were always in this game.

"We were really good in moments but we didn't make enough of our opportunities, particularly in the first half. We worked Hampton a little bit more in the second half but we are disappointed with the goals. They were on us.

"We collapsed a little bit on either side for each of the goals. That can be frustrating because you know pretty much everything has to go your way when you play the likes of Chelsea because of the quality they have.

"All in all I think it is a step forward. To come here and control large parts of the game is really good. Pleased but disappointed we didn't take something."

  11. Chelsea run it backpublished at 14:29 GMT 15 February

    FT: Chelsea 2-0 Liverpool

    Chelsea

It's been a turbulent time for Chelsea of late, both on and off the pitch, but these past two performances have shown glimpses of the team that won that unbeaten domestic treble last term.

While defensively they need a bit of work, they are killing teams off at the top end of the pitch - and that's what winning teams do.

Four goals, two clean sheets (taking their tally to eight in 16 games this season), and six points to stay in the top three mix.

  12. 'How's that not a penalty?'published at 14:27 GMT 15 February

FT: Man Utd 2-1 London City Lionesses

    London City Lionesses

London City Lionesses forward Nikita Parris: "It is a hard one to take because I felt we were well in the game. [Manchester United] had some chances and we had our chances too. So hard when you concede from a set-piece right at the later stages of the game.

"But I am proud of the girls and the performance. We showed we can compete at the top of this league and if other decisions go our way, maybe its our points. But that's football.

On asked which decisions did not go their way: "Against me and Maya [Le Tissier], that was penalty. The ref says I am pulling her but how? It's so frustrating I feel like Izzy [Goodwin]'s chance at the end, potentially we could have drawn, but that's football.

On her goal: "I got to score goals as a forward. Frist half we dominated the ball and United barely had a sniff. The chances that they crated they scored. We have to take positives from this performance and move on. We need to turn them into points. We need to create more opportunities from set-pieces and open play to sore goals because goals win games."

  13. 'We want more'published at 14:25 GMT 15 February

    FT: Everton 1-0 West Ham

    Everton

More from Everton interim manager Scott Phelan: "We spoke about Goodison Park and how happy we are to use it as our home stadium but we want to make the most of it. We want opposition teams to come here and feel the difference and go away knowing they've been in a real tough game. Hopefully West Ham have felt a little bit of that today in certain moments. We want more. As a start, we couldn't ask for much more."

On the Merseyside derby next up: "It means a lot. It means a lot to the city, not just me. We live in a football city and there are certain games throughout the calendar that we look for and Liverpool are one of them. This is an added extra because it's a cup game. It's definitely exciting and we wanted to use the cup to add some excitement to the season as well. The fact that it's Liverpool as well makes it extra exciting."

  14. 'To win games of football when not at your best is a massive achievement'published at 14:20 GMT 15 February

    FT: Everton 1-0 West Ham

    Everton

Everton interim manager Scott Phelan: "There has to be a togetherness and application of wanting to work hard for ourselves and we spoke about the foundations that are going to help us move forward and hopefully collect more wins regardless of league position, almost non negotiables, and a lot of them were present today.

"At times we weren't as good as maybe we could have been in possession of the ball which means we probably had to defend a bit without conceding too many chances. They probably had a bit more control in the first half that we would have liked.

"But, the fact that our effort, energy and enthusiasm and togetherness again got us through those sticky moments. As a framework moving forward, they will always be our foundations.

"Of course while we are learning about each other and how we want to play, to win games of football when we aren't at our best is a massive achievement. We are just happy and really proud of the players in terms of the effort they put in today."

  15. History for Everton interim boss Phelanpublished at 14:18 GMT 15 February

A word for Everton interim boss Scott Phelan.

He took over from Brian Sorensen in rather unusual circumstances at the start of February, and has led the team to back to back wins in his first two games in charge.

He's the first ever Toffees boss to win their opening two WSL games.

Most importantly of all though he's also lifted what was a very glum mood around the club. That's quite the start to life in top flight management.

  16. 'Scoring the goal felt like a full circle'published at 14:16 GMT 15 February

FT: Man Utd 2-1 London City Lionesses

    Manchester United

Manchester United defender Millie Turner: "It's a massive result for us. To go 1-0 down and then react the way we did, it's huge. It's big from the team. It's so important for the momentum. We got so many games, we used our squad today and it shows how much depth we have got.

On her goal: "The goal felt so good. It felt like a full circle. The last time I played London City Lionesses, I got injured. To get a goal now is a special moment.

On 16-year-old Layla Drury: "She has been amazing. She comes in every single day with a smile on her face and works very hard. She has got a very bright future ahead of her."

  17. 'We know it will be tough for us'published at 14:14 GMT 15 February

    FT: Chelsea 2-0 Liverpool

    Chelsea

Chelsea goalscorer Sjoeke Nusken speaking to Sky Sports: "A good performance for us. We created a lot of chances. Scored some goals and got another clean sheet.

"It's important to go from game to game now this season. We know it will be tough for us this season. Every game is important to get more confidence back."

  18. 'Difficult coming back from injury'published at 14:11 GMT 15 February

    FT: Chelsea 2-0 Liverpool

    Chelsea

Chelsea's Lauren James speaking to Sky Sports: "Felt good today. It's hard coming back from injury and then to find that rhythm. It takes time but glad I got on the scoresheet today

"I have been trying to get my form back. It was difficult at the start of this game but then we got our goal and it started to open up."

  19. 'We said we needed to score more goals'published at 14:09 GMT 15 February

    FT: Aston Villa 3-7 Tottenham

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Signe Gaupset speaking after her player-of-the-match performance: "It feels really good, nice to bounce back with a win today.

"It's something we have been speaking about, we need to score goals. To score seven is amazing."

On scoring her first goal or the club: "I've been waiting for that so I'm really happy to score my first goal."

On Spurs pushing for a European place: "We want to win as many games as possible, we will just take one game at a time and try to win every one."
