Well, it was a golden morning for ParalympicsGB but the evening was lined with silver.

Gordon Reid & Alfie Hewett lost the men's doubles final but the two friends will battle it out for gold tomorrow.

And other honourable mentions go to Richard Whitehead and the team of Kadeena Cox, Maria Lyle, Georgina Hermitage and Sophie Hahn on the track.

But ParalympicsGB will have many more chances to reach a golden half century tomorrow.

Great Britain's successful silver medallists have been speaking to BBC Radio 5 live after their second place finish earlier this evening.

Kadeena Cox: "It felt great, I got out of the blocks the best I have in the whole competition and I just didn't want Maria to run away from me."

Maria Lyle: "Me and Kadeena, like a lot of the other girls, have worked hard on the changeover so I'm glad it went well. If it was safe that was good, we PB'd and you can't ask for more than that."

Sophie Hahn: "China put up a fantastic time, I wanted to catch them but there's always next year in London and we want to do better then."

A shaky start but there was too much water between Amy Marren and Alice Tai as the girls finish fourth behind China.

Australia top the podium with a monstrous effort, having smashed the world record by a few seconds, lowering it to 4:16.83.

Steph Millward and Susie Rodgers, the slower of the four, covered the first half well and Amy Marren gets GB into contention for bronze at the 300m turn.

But China fight back on the last length to knock GB off the podium. Unlucky.

Australia have a good lead at the front but Amy Marren is going strong in third at the halfway point.

Can Susie Rodgers and Alice Tai bring home a medal?

So, it was silver tonight for GB's Gordon Reid and Alfie Hewett but tomorrow only one of them will secure gold in the singles final when they face one another.

But how is each player feeling ahead of that match-up having teamed up together and taken home silver in the men's doubles?

"It's incredible and to have an all-British final is the stuff of dreams," Wimbledon singles champion Reid tells BBC Radio 5 Live.

"We're not sharing a room or even in the same apartment and I don't think we'll be having breakfast together tomorrow, but there is a lot of respect between us."

Alfie Hewett told me: "It'll be tough as we train together and know each other's games inside out and I'll speak with my psychologist as I can struggle against big players, but I'll have to treat him like a stranger."

Brazilians are known for being good with their feet, especially when a ball is placed in front of them.

In fact, they're so good that some of them can play football without looking.

Brazil have won three Paralympic titles in 5-a-side football, commonly known as blind football, and they can now go for their fourth title in a row after beating China in the semi finals.

Superstar Jefinho scored both goals as he helped his side to a fourth consecutive Paralympic final.

Club throw gold medallist Jo Butterfield has told BBC Sport's Jamie Broughton that the reaction to her Paralympic success has been phenomenal.

Butterfield was victorious on Sunday night at the Athletics Stadium, setting a new world record on the way.

"People everywhere, from every different walk of life are all getting on social media to say well done and congratulations," she said.

"I had a tweet from the cat at Downing Street. All gold medallists seem to have got one. It’s a bit weird, but kind of cool.”

Richard Whitehead's parents have been proud spectators at Rio as their son has won gold and silver medals at the 200m T42 and 100m T42 respectively.

Mum Geraldine told BBC Radio 5 live: "It's the furthest I've been in an aeroplane. We've not done anything like this before but we thought it was important to support him.

"For a fortnight we've been stressing and worrying about different things but it's been well worth it. We've had a good cry."

Dad John added: "It's been amazing to see him achieve certain things people say he can't."

Managed a quick look at the Paralympic medals ahead of presentation. I doubt the smiles of Gordon Reid and Alfie Hewett will quite match those of the Rio 2016 mascots after finishing with silver, mind...

They are young though - Reid, 24 and Hewett, 18 - so both are likely to be back battling for honours together in Tokyo in four years time.

That was slick from China. They came here and meant business. Our girls were always trailing in their wake.

But it's a great silver medal. I do hope they are chuffed. To be beaten by a world record is no mean feat.

Gold number 50 won't come on the track as China pull away for the gold.

It was a good start on the first two changeovers from the Chinese to get away from Kadeena Cox and Maria Lyle, but a phenomenal run on the bend from Georgina Hermitage pulled Sophie Hahn level with their rivals on the final leg.

Hahn pumps her arms but she's not got enough track left as China stumble over the line with Hahn close behind.

Good effort though as China set a new world record of 50.81 seconds with GB stopping at 51.07.

Next up is the women's 4x100m T35-38 relay.

There are contrasting fortunes in the interview area which the two sets of players go through after their matches.

The Great Britain players are bitterly disappointed after losing the semi-final but the Spanish team, who have reached a first Paralympic final and secured a first-ever medal, celebrate wildly.

"They came out firing and their big guys caused us all sorts of problems and then once they got inside they got the two points," said GB's Ian Sagar.

"Tonight just wasn't our night and it's soul destroying. But we are determined not to go home empty-handed."

Not to be for GB's Gordon Reid and Alfie Hewett, as the pair go down 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 to French pair Stephane Houdet and Nicolas Peifer.

They battled hard in the second set to come back into contention but ultimately they couldn't match that intensity in the decider and it's France left celebrating.

Silver is still an impressive result for the GB pair and there is some consolation ... tomorrow night one of them will secure a gold medal as Hewett and Reid face-off in the singles final.
