Newport beat Llandovery 28-25 to win the Super Rygbi Cymru (SRC) Cup thanks to a late try by flanker Kyle Tayler.

The league champions claimed the spoils at Cardiff Arms Park after Swansea had beaten Rygbi Gogledd Cymru (RGC) 29-13 in the plate final.

The Drovers, who won the SRC Cup last season, led 17-14 at half-time thanks to tries by wings Llien Morgan and Harri Doel.

Wing Morgan WIlliams and hooker Henry Palmer crossed for Newport in the first half and they led 21-17 when lock Josh Skinner got their third try.

Back came Llandovery through Morgan and the boot of Ioan Hughes but open-side flanker Taylor went over late on and Newport held on for victory.

Swansea won the first piece of silverware in 2025-26 in the first part of the Arms Park double-header.

Mat Protheroe went over twice for the Whites along with Josh Phillips, who also kicked 13 points.
