Shaun Murphy finishes with a flourish to give those who have stayed until the end of the session at the Crucible some entertainment.

The 2005 champion is quickly round the table as he rattles off a scintillating 140 break.

Murphy will hold a one-frame advantage over Fan Zhengyi going into tomorrow.

  5. Fan draws level againpublished at 22:32 BST 20 April

    Murphy 4-4 Fan

A break of 62 from Fan Zhengyi proves pivotal in the eighth frame and Shaun Murphy has little interest in chasing snookers after a brief glance at the table.

    All square again.

    One frame left this evening.

  6. Murphy back in frontpublished at 22:19 BST 20 April

    Murphy 4-3 Fan

We're not done with this evening's snooker, though.

Shaun Murphy and Fan Zhengyi are still battling it out on table one.

Murphy has just taken the seventh frame 62-37 to nudge himself back in front.

Well done Kyren Wilson, experience shows through. However, hang on to your cues, there is Stan Moody firmly in the wings. What a debut performance. (What were you doing as a teenager?)

Kyren Wilson, speaking to BBC Four, said: "I just really dug in. Really dug in. I knew I was struggling and couldn't win frames in one visit like I normally would.

"I had lot of cue issues, a lot of tip issues. I changed my tip for this evening's session. I just hate my cue - absolutely hate my cue! It's too flexible at the top. I've got no control and no feel in my hand. I'm just fighting all the time. I'm changing cue after this tournament and have a sponsor who are kindly making me a few new cues so that's in the back of my mind."

On if he can get cue issues out of his head: "I can't! The remedy is I won the Masters with it, so I know I can win with it. I can't reach my full potential with the cue and unfortunately that's the position I'm in. I'll fight for every frame and make myself difficult to beat. Have you got any advice? It's just torture.

"I adapted my mindset in that match on every single shot and if something goes wrong I try not to show too much emotion. Stan Moody started so well. He got off to a flyer, but I won two big momentum swinging frames this evening."

  9. 'I'll come back stronger'published at 22:00 BST 20 April

Stan Moody, speaking to BBC Four, said: "I just lost too many bad frames. I had the match won at 7-3 and then missed a red to go 8-3. I'm gutted. I felt comfortable out there but bad frames hurt me. I'll go away and practise and come back stronger.

"It's a good experience. I'll just try to learn what shots to play at the right time and try to miss less balls."

Stan Moody has been through pressure he's never been through in his career tonight. But we've seen enough of him today to know he's got a tremendous future in this game if he continues to work hard and learn from these experiences. No doubt he has the talent.

What a performance from the former world champion Kyren Wilson. Stan Moody was all over him at the beginning but the warrior battled back.

  14. Wilson beats Moodypublished at 21:53 BST 20 April

    Wilson 10-7 Moody

Stan Moody has an incredibly bright future but he falls at the first hurdle at this year's World Snooker Championship.

The 11th frame was the turning point when Moody just needed to see it out to go 8-4 up but instead it proved the spark for Kyren Wilson's fight back.

Moody started the 17th frame with a break of 20 before he plays a rare safety shot and it ends up being a scrappy exchange.

Moody manages to claw back Wilson's total of 46 and is left with the black to take the frame.

It needs a very fine cut with the black on the cushion, and he probably should play a safety, but Moody goes for the pot and sees it rattle the jaws.

Wilson duly sinks it to clinch the match.

    Wilson 9-7 Moody

    Ken Doherty
1997 world champion on BBC Four

Kyren Wilson has played brilliantly to come back. Okay, he's still missing balls but the manner and fortitude he's shown at the big times he's done well to dig himself out of a hole. Fair play to way he has stuck at it.

  16. Wilson one frame awaypublished at 21:27 BST 20 April

    Wilson 9-7 Moody

A break of 35 to open the 16th frame from Kyren Wilson but Stan Moody is unable to make any real inroads on his first visit.

Wilson then calmly works his way through the pack of reds with a break of 34 before missing an pot - but crucially he has enough points in the bank.

Moody looks flustered as he misses an easy black and then concedes the frame at 69-2.

  17. Can Wilson complete a memorable fightback?published at 21:22 BST 20 April

    Wilson 8-7 Moody

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at the Crucible

Kyren Wilson hits the front for the first time in a match where he had been 6-2 and 7-3 behind.

He has had experience of fighting back from a heavy deficit before as he was five down in a Crucible match when he trailed 6-1 to Barry Hawkins in their last 16 tie in 2019, with Wilson winning 13-11.

If he completes the fightback tonight, he may think it is an even better achievement given how Stan Moody was playing earlier today,

  18. Postpublished at 21:19 BST 20 April

    Wilson 8-7 Moody

    Ken Doherty
1997 world champion on BBC Four

Stan Moody needs to get a little bit of composure back. He's lost five in a row but he's not out of this. One frame can give you a flash of inspiration and you are back up on the horse again. Huge frame coming up.

Always felt Stan Moody’s inexperience would just about tell in the end. Frames 12 and 14 feel pivotal, but what an effort nonetheless, against a top match player in Kyren Wilson! What a future he has!

    Ryan, Sheffield.

  20. Wilson edges aheadpublished at 21:16 BST 20 April

    Wilson 8-7 Moody

Five frames on the spin now for Kyren Wilson who has rallied superbly from 6-3 down at the start of the session to lead by a frame.

A break of 46 for Wilson helps him reach 59 and leaves Stan Moody requiring snookers.

The 19-year-old attempts to pot the blue with an ambitious effort before conceding the frame.
