He's become a winner, simple as.

Was it a vintage final, no - but it was very enjoyable to watch.

All he had to do today was beat the man in the other chair and that's what he's done.

More from Masters champion Kyren Wilson on BBC Two: I'll be honest - I thought at the UK Championship I was gone, I honestly didn't know if I was ever going to be back in the winners' enclosure

So I came here with a new lease of life.

People don't see what happens behind closed doors but I was in a bad way at the UK, really really suffering.

Kyren Wilson has shown he is a winner. Over the years we've seen him grow and he's now a complete player. He really does play with lots of confidence and he was the best player this week all round.

He showed great heart and it was an amazing turnaround to get back in the saddle so quickly. He now gives himself a chance to go one step further and win the World Championship because he's going to be hard to beat.

    Kyren Wilson wins Masters

Masters champion Kyren Wilson on BBC Two: "In 2018 I lost in the final and cried - I'm trying not to cry now as it means so much to me. It was just an absolute dogfight and I tried to be as dogged as John has been over the years - I'm glad he's managed to give me one for a change.

"I never make it easy for myself, I always seem to do it the hard way. I don't know why, it frustrates the hell out of me - but I will always give it my all. Even if I'm struggling I will fight until the end until I finally get my hands on some silverware."

  7. 'Disappointed with the way I performed'published at 22:35 GMT 18 January

John Higgins on BBC Two: "The crowd were fantastic. The entrance tonight was one of the best experiences I've had as a snooker player. The conditions were asbsolutely fantastic as well. I was just useless! But taking no credit away from Kyren - he was by far the better player. He was totally dominant today at 10-6.

"It's disappointing because the last two finals I've played in I've gone out like a light. It's been a good week and I've enjoyed it. Just disappointed with the way I performed in the final but listen tonight is Kyren's night so congratulations to him. He's a great champion."

    Steve Davis
Six-time world champion on BBC Two

From nowhere John Higgins looked a lot more relaxed in the last frame. Maybe it's because there's nowhere else to go now. Maybe it's relaxed him enough to let his cue do the talking a bit. He needs to get a load of shots in to start to feel like a snooker player again.

    Higgins 6-9 Wilson

The John Higgins fans in the crowd seize upon any sliver of hope. Kyren Wilson misses a long red but despite the encouragement Higgins cannot follow up with a long pot of his own.

    Higgins 6-9 Wilson

    John Parrott
1991 world champion on BBC Two

What's disappointing for John Higgins is the fact that Kyren Wilson hasn't been absolutely brilliant and if Higgins had been playing his usual high-standard stuff, this would be a very close final and he could be in front.

He's had loads and loads of chances, the disappointing thing for John is he just hasn't had his game today and he knows this is a chance missed.

Should Kyren have taken the easy red instead of opening the pack so early might have made all the difference.

John Higgins is fading a little bit. That pink in the frame before was pretty debilitating and then a couple of long shots went astray. It does look like he has gone a bit flat and it's just not been his day and night.

It's not been the greatest final but Kyren Wilson has kept doing his job.
