It must be said, Denmark have done brilliantly to make such a good game of this.

USA have scored four goals from 30 shots, while the Danes' three points have come from only 13 efforts.

The underdogs have defended well for the most part - just now, a crazy goalmouth scramble is repelled - and scored a couple of bangers.

And we still have time left...

You can watch the conclusion of the match at the top of this page (UK users only).

Another potential medal slips away for GB (though that is such a tough sport and Niall wasn’t a hot favourite) - and that penalty seems harsh!!

    Angus, Essex

Just confirming Treacy was the only one who got penalised, for being shoved in the back?

    Duncan, Bristol

How is that GB's fault, getting shoved from behind?

    Paul, Nottingham

I am not so familiar with the vagaries of short track speed skating, but if I understood Wilf O'Reilly's analysis it was because Treacy was judged to have changed his racing line in an improper fashion.

  7. Who should represent GB in mixed event?published at 22:02 GMT 14 February

Skeleton - mixed team (Sunday, 17:00 GMT)

    Lizzy Yarnold
Two-time Olympic skeleton champion on BBC Two

The team race is on Sunday. Celebrate now, then they'll work out who is going to be in which teams. Hopefully we can have two teams in the race.

I would choose the highest-ranked athletes to work together to have the highest likelihood of bringing home a gold. Matt Weston with Tabitha Stoecker and Marcus Wyatt with Freya Tarbit.

I think it will be all smiles and hopefully more medals.

We are, of course, getting a lengthy review.

And here comes the result... it's penalisation for Team GB's Niall Treacy.

He has his sixth place finish removed, having been deemed at fault for a collision with one of the Chinese athletes.

    Is this historic comeback on?

It's the second wondergoal of the game from the Danes, Phillip Bruggisser slapping it into the top corner from way downtown.

And that came with two seconds left of the second period. A complete momentum changer going into the break.

Hold onto your hats, the final 20 minutes could be wild.

The winner of this race was always going to be the person who could stay out of trouble, but unfortunately Niall Treacy had a collision.

That is disappointing for him because he was skating so well - I was really expecting him to get on the podium.

It's gold for Jens van 'T Wout of the Netherlands!

He wins the men's 1500m in a time of 2:12.219, finishing ahead of South Korea's Hwang Daehoen and Latvia's Roberts Kruzbergs, who take silver and bronze.

Team GB's Niall Treacy finishes sixth, while China's Shoaong Liu came across the line in seventh almost 40 seconds later - his compatriot Long Sun failed to finish.

    That was one for VAR!

USA have been given their fourth goal after a shot from Noah Hafinin squeezed off the post and trickled over the line.

A Danish defender hacked it away, but the puck had narrowly crossed the line, and the goal is good.

You suspect that is the game done unless Denmark launch a historic comeback.

It's for the six skaters who finished third and fourth in each of the three semi-finals (plus one who finished fifth).

Luca Spechenhauser of Italy wins it in a time of 2:34.359.

The A final is up next, with Team GB's Niall Treacy one of nine competitors in that one.

The Americans have finally made their pressure count, and the turnaround is complete.

Brady Tkachuk equalised with a powerful shot that gave the keeper no chance. And just a minute later, Jack Eichel has fired into the roof of the net.

There isn't much by way of tension in the crowd: No Greenland flags or anti-Trump signs. There is plenty of American patriotism, but you expect that at sporting events.

But on the ice, there is plenty of national pride at stake - and it boils over as multiple players get involved in another scrum.

The two semi-finals of the women's 3,000m relay have whipped their way around the track.

The Netherlands and Italy advanced to the final from semi-final one, finishing ahead of the USA and France.

South Korea triumphed in the second semi-final with Canada slipping ahead of China to take the second qualifying spot, while Japan finished fourth.

Both the A and B finals for this event are on Wednesday evening.

This evening's four curling matches have come to a conclusion.

There were routine wins for USA (7-4 vs Japan), Denmark (6-3 vs South Korea), and Sweden (8-6 vs Italy).

However, world champions Canada, who lost to GB earlier on Saturday, lost 8-7 to Switzerland after being taken to an extra end.

The two sides were tied at 7-7 after 10 ends, with Switzerland scoring four points in the seventh end as they fought back from 5-2 down.

Switzerland, who had the hammer in the extra end, scored one point to complete the win.

Sweden, Switzerland, USA, and China occupy the top four spots in the standings, with GB in seventh place.

Roberts Kruzbergs is advanced, while South Korea's Shin Dong Min takes the second automatic qualifying place.

Niall Treacy's time of 2:16.816 was the fifth-fastest of the six automatic qualifiers, with three more skaters getting advanced to the final following incidents.

That final comes at 21:42 GMT, preceded by a B final and the women's 3,000m semi-final relays, which are up next.
