Disaster for American champion Amber Glenn!

She missed her triple toe loop, it is classed as an invalid element and she will get zero points.

Glenn, the oldest American debutant ever in figure skating at 26, looks devastated. She knows that will cost her a medal, and she bursts into tears as she exits the rink.

Have they got pancakes at the Olympic village canteen? I've just cooked and eaten about half a dozen. The only event I'm in shape for now is watching whilst slumped on the sofa (I am however, gold medal standard at this).

Goodness, Kaori Sakamoto is delighted with that. She nearly skips off the ice!

She gets positive grades of execution for all seven elements, including the triple flip and toe loop which has by far the highest base value.

But Nakai still leads by a point and a half!

Just three women left to skate.

Next up is Japan’s Kaori Sakamoto, who is her final season before retiring. She claimed bronze at the last Olympics - and then won three world titles in a row, the first woman to do that since the 1960s.

Can she knock team mate Ami Nakai - eight years her junior - off the top of the standings?

Well, she will certainly have the home crowd on her side with her choice of music: Time to Say Goodbye, by Sarah Brightman and opening ceremony star Andrea Bocelli.

One of the cult heroes of these Games is back on the ice tonight.

I am of course talking about Jordan Cowan, the white-suited cameraman who skates around the athletes before and after their routines, capturing their emotions up close.

Cowan is a former competitive ice dancer for USA, in case you're wondering how he is able to skate backwards so smoothly while carrying a giant TV camera.

American world champion Alysa Liu just raised the roof in Milan with her performance to Promise by Laufey.

She got an incredible reception from those in the crowd, ranging from Ilia Malinin to Snoop Dogg.

However, she did lose points on her triple lutz for landing on the quarter – not fully completing the rotation, instead returning to the ice 90 degrees short.

As a result, she is second in the standings behind Ami Nakai.

Latvia pull one backpublished at 21:25 GMT 17 February

    Men's ice hockey - Sweden 3-1 Latvia

There's life in this one yet as Latvia's Eduards Tralmaks converts a rebound to pull one back for his side, with eight minutes of the second period left.

Reminder that the winner of this match will play USA in Wednesday's quarter-finals.

Dashed up to the mixed zone for a quick bobsleigh interview and who should be hanging around celebrating a clean sweep of German medals but Jurgen Klopp.

This is about as much as I could manage before I got shifted along.

The joy and despair of the Olympics.

Canada's Madeline Schizas - who had to get an extension on the deadline for her college coursework to be able to compete in Milan - was in tears after a major error in her routine.

She completely mistimed her triple loop, and as a result scores zero points for that element.

That's the end of her medal hopes - currently she won't even qualify for the free skate. Gutting.

Team GB curlers Grant Hardie and Bruce Mouat, speaking to BBC Sport after their defeat by Canada:

Mouat: "After the blip in the first end, we felt we had the momentum going into the next, but unfortunately the angles and situations did not go our way. We are disappointed not to come away with the win."

Hardie: "It was not a game you would have said we were playing well. We made too many mistakes and we know what we did wrong. We are running out of time to put it right. Hopefully we can deliver the right results tomorrow."

Mouat: "We know that we need to come away with a win tomorrow and we know USA are a good team too. We are a resilient team and I am sure we can win."
