Hole 12 at Royal St George's
381 yards, par four

By Ken Brown
BBC TV golf commentator

This is a shortish par four that certainly offers up birdie opportunties.

There's a dogleg from left to right so you need to play with a bit of fade off the tee.

Depending on the breeze, it's probably best to play a three wood to the corner of the dogleg and also make sure the bunkers - at about 230 yards - are avoided.

Most golfers will not have a flat lie from which to make their approach shot.

A short iron is the order of the day here, to a green that runs away from you.

The green is not too heavily bunkered although there are hollows on both left and right.
