Rena Howe, 70, is MD of Top and Bottom Furniture in Durham which helps families in deprived areas buy decent quality furniture at reasonable prices.

In 2001, she won the Barclays Bank regional Women Social Entrepreneur of the Year.

She said: "I like doing this, I have achieved something I never thought I would do. My advice is that if you can do it, go ahead. It keeps your mind active."
