Lampuuk was a favourite destination for the more adventurous Western traveller.

Joe Kearsley arrived in the area six years before the tsunami and fell in love with the place. He had learnt the language, the culture and built himself a house.

But the tsunami took everything away: his home, his land and his fiancee.
