Murder arrests after man fatally stabbed on street

Police have made two murder arrests after a man was fatally stabbed on a street.

West Midlands Police and ambulance service were called to Wood Green Road in Winson Green, Birmingham, shortly before 21:00 GMT on Monday.

In a statement, police said: "Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the man, in his 20s, sadly died at the scene. Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this devastating time."

The two suspects, men aged 39 and 45, remain in custody as police inquiries continue.

Police added that Wood Green Road and surrounding streets had been cordoned off and warned of traffic disruption as a result.

They asked people with information, including smartphone or dashcam footage, to get in touch with the force or via Crimestoppers.

The statement continued: "We understand how concerning this incident is and we will have extra officers in the area today and over the coming days to offer reassurance to the community."
