Debate Night Leaders Special: The headlinespublished at 22:33 BST 12 April
If you're just joining us after a sometimes acrimonious leaders debate, here are the key lines that emerged:
- The question of a mandate for a second independence referendum led to some heated exchanges between the leaders as well as the cost of living, the NHS and immigration.
- John Swinney reiterated his view that indyref2 could take place by 2028 - if the SNP secured a majority on 7 May.
- The SNP leader was backed by Scottish Greens co-leader Ross Greer, who warned it would be "profoundly undemocratic" to ignore a Greens and SNP majority as a mandate for a second referendum.
- Anas Sarwar, the Scottish Labour leader, called on the electorate to vote on "live issues" such fixing the NHS, giving opportunities to young people, building more homes and the cost of living crisis.
- Scottish Tory leader Russell Findlay insisted he "believed in Scotland's place in the union" and vowed to stop the SNP "breaking up our country", criticsing the SNP over tax and spending.
- People want the government to "get on with the day job", said Reform UK's Scottish leader Malcolm Offord, who added no-one on the doorsteps was talking about another referendum instead focusing on issues such as the economy and immigration.
- And Scottish Lib Dem leader Alex Cole-Hamilton said he hadn't given independence a moment's thought and too many patients remain in hospital when they do not need to be there and it is causing backlogs in the NHS.
That's all from the live page team tonight, but we're back tomorrow with coverage of the campaign trail and the launch of Scottish Labour's manifesto.
