Is this the coolest looking horse you've ever seen?

Luna the police horse is often seen wearing her custom sunglasses, or "neigh-bands", when she's on duty.

They were made to protect her eyes from the sun because she has an eye condition, but that hasn't stopped her serving in Thames Valley Police.

Now, Luna is heading into a well-earned retirement after 13 years in the force.

Luna doesn't just look cool, she's also met some pretty important people.

She's worked at Royal Ascot where she escorted the Royal Family every day and was at Queen Elizabeth II's funeral too.

Sergeant Heidi Cornick, who leads the Mounted Section at the force said: "She is an angel and my favourite horse in the yard. Every day I come in I love seeing her little face over the stable door.

"She is so brave, so honest and has had a phenomenal career, we will miss her very much. She is very much the queen of the stables.

Now Luna can retire and enjoy the sun on her face without her bad eye bothering her

Despite having lots of treatment for the eye condition that she was born with, Luna was losing the sight in one of her eyes.

To make her as comfortable as possible, so that she can enjoy the sun without irritation or sunglasses, Luna's poorly eye has been operated on.

The force says her operation was a "complete success" and she can now "simply relax and enjoy herself".

Luna will be taken care of at charity, The Horse Trust, which looks after police and military horses when they are ready to retire.

And now that she no longer needs her glasses, they're going to be donated to the Thames Valley Police Museum.
