Take a look at the top movie news from this year's CinemaCon

A huge event for movie fans has been taking place in Las Vegas in the US this week.

CinemaCon takes place each year and and gives fans a sneak peek at some of the big new movies coming in the near future.

Exclusive clips and trailers of movies are often shown to audiences at the event before they are released to the public.

There are also panels where actors and movie directors can talk about some of the new films coming out, and share any news and updates.

Here's a round-up of some of the announcements from the event...

Marvel Avengers: Doomsday

Disney showed off the first proper trailer for the next Avengers film - Doomsday, at the event.

The clip gave fans their first look at Robert Downey Jr - who played Iron Man in 2019's Avengers: Endgame - as the new masked villain, Doctor Doom.

It also featured superheroes old and new and showed a fight between X-Men's Gambit and Shang-Chi, played by Channing Tatum and Simu Liu.

Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, also made an appearance in the clip, alongside Thor.

On stage, actor Chris Evans, who plays Captain America, told the crowd: "I said I would only come back if there was a real reason. And in Doomsday, there is a very real reason that these heroes need Steve Rogers."

The new movie will be released on 18 December this year.

Paddington is back!

Bring out the marmalade sandwiches

The makers of the Paddington movies, Studiocanal, confirmed that a fourth version of the bear's adventures would be returning to the big screen.

Very few details about the new film were shared at the event, but Studiocanal chief executive Anna Marsh said that "world-renowned comedy writers" would be a part of it.

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse

Spider-Punk is back in the new animated movie

Fans were also treated to a sneak peek at the upcoming Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse movie.

It's the third and final movie in the animated trilogy, made by Sony Pictures, that follows Miles Morales as Spider-Man.

Sony confirmed that fan-favourite characters Peter B. Parker, Spider-Ham, Spider-Man 2099, Gwen and Spider-Punk would be returning in the new movie.

They also shared pictures of Miles's uncle and dad, Aaron and Jeff, as their younger selves, meaning fans could be getting insight into their story.

It was also revealed that the release date for the movie had moved a little later, and would now release on 18 June 2027.

Jumanji 3 is coming

A third Jumanji movie was also revealed to be in the works.

The new movie will be called Jumanji: Open World, and will see the virtual world of Jumanji start to leak into the real world.

Actors Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Karen Gillan, will be returning to play their characters, Dr Smoulder Bravestone, Professor Shelly Oberon, Franklin 'Mouse' Finbar and Ruby Roundhouse.

It was also revealed that there will be a special tribute to Robin Williams who starred in the 1995 original movie Jumanji.

The movie is set to release on Christmas Day - 25 December 2026.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4

An exciting character comeback was revealed in a teaser clip from the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 4 movie at the event.

Fans say that a clip of the new movie was shared which showed Dr Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik - Sonic's old arch-nemesis - staggering out of a spaceship and shouting 'Robotnik…saves…world!'

After the end of the third movie, fans weren't sure if Jim Carey's Dr Robotnik would be making a return, but this new clip changes things.

It also hints that Sonic and Dr Robotnik may team up to help take down the mysterious new enemy, Metal Sonic.

The movie will be heading to cinema screens worldwide on 19 March 2027.

Hexed

Walt Disney Animation Studios also announced the stars of their new upcoming animated movie Hexed.

The story will follow a teenage girl named Billie - who will be played by Hailee Steinfield, who goes on a magical journey with her mother, voiced by Rashida Jones.

When Billie discovers she has magical powers, she teams up with her mum to uncover the secret realm of witches called Hexe.

The movie is set to release on 25 November 2026.

Ice Age returns

It was also revealed that Ice Age would be making a comeback with a sixth mainline movie from the franchise.

The cast of the new movie - Ice Age: Boiling Point - spoke to fans about what to expect from the new film, as well as show off a short clip.

They confirmed that the sequel will bring back fan-favourite characters – Sid, Manny, Diego, Ellie, Scrat, and the gang.

The short clip also showed off Scrat the squirrel fighting over an acorn with his new baby.

The movie is set to release in cinemas on 5 February 2027.
