Rob Melvill
Director of Fundraising

Rob Melvill joined BBC Media Action as Director of Fundraising in March 2025.
I’m delighted to join the BBC’s international charity. BBC Media Action’s work in support of independent media and trusted information around the world has never been more important – and I’m excited to lead the newly combined fundraising team to secure the sustainable, diverse funding base needed to drive forward its work for years to come.
In my role, I oversee the charity’s individual giving, major donor, corporate partnerships, events and business development teams.
I came to BBC Media Action from the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), where I was Director of Relationships Income and Engagement and led the charity’s major giving, trusts & foundations, statutory funding, and corporate partnerships teams, along with special events.
Previously, I was Head of Income Generation at Citizens Advice, where I built and delivered a successful diversification of income strategy, moving it away from reliance on statutory income amid a fast-changing economic climate. My background is in research, and I previously led research and insight teams at Citizens Advice and ComRes, managing and delivering complex quantitative and qualitative research projects.
I have grown up alongside the BBC, and I am honoured to be joining BBC Media Action as we deliver on a new strategy powered by the support of our donors and partners. I am excited to get started!
