Pedestrian dies in multiple vehicle crash on M6

A person has died after being hit by several vehicles on the M6, police said.

The pedestrian was found dead following the incident between junctions 21 and 21A in Warrington, a Cheshire Police spokesperson said.

Officers were called to reports of the collision on the northbound carriageway of the motorway at around 02:50 GMT.

A section of the M6 northbound was closed, along with a section near Leyland, Lancashire.

The investigating forensic team had also closed the north side of Tebay Services in Cumbria to carry out their work, police said.

The sections of the motorway which were closed were all reopened by Sunday afternoon, a National Highways spokesperson said.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
