Presenting Properly

Petroc Trelawny

Petroc Trelawny

Petroc is the 'voice' of Performance on 3 and In Tune on Radio 3. He also and also presents Proms, lunchtime recitals, series of Morning Performance, and relays of concerts and operas from around the country.

Here he gives you some tips on presenting, recording links, writing styles and interviewing techniques

Q1. How do you prepare a demo tape for Radio 3?

I think many people will be inclined to be very serious... but we're there to enthuse and encourage people.

Q2. How important are the links?

Get the information across but keep it fairly brief. At the end of the day the people want to hear the music rather than you.

Q3. Any advice for interviews?

The key thing when doing an interview is not to be put off.

Q4. What are your suggestions for people wanting to be a presenter?

You have to be really passionate if you want to be a presenter.
