First person narration
BRYAN Let’s talk about first person narration in Duck Feet. What what benefits do you get from being right inside the character’s head?
ELY I almost always write in first person. I mean, I just prefer it, and I prefer reading books that are in first person. To me, it just feels, it feels as if you’re stepping right into that person’s skin. I mean, it can be it can be limiting, I suppose, at times as well, because you can only get Kirsty’s opinion on stuff in Duck Feet. You don’t get other people’s unless they’re directly talking to her. So everything is filtered through her.
