วันนี้เราจะมาฝึกภาษาอังกฤษในหัวข้ออะไร ต้องฟังบทสนทนาแล้วทายดูนะคะ ใบ้ให้ว่าเป็นเรื่องเกี่ยวกับงานอดิเรก แต่เวลาฟังครั้งแรกให้พยายามจับใจความว่า เขาพูดถึงงานอดิเรกในตอนนี้ หรือในสมัยที่เป็นเด็ก

สรุปว่าเขาพูดถึงงานอดิเรก หรือกิจกรรมที่สนใจในวัยไหนคะ? That’s right, when they were children!

Yes! ในประโยคเหล่านี้ เขาพูดถึงพฤติกรรมในอดีต หรือ ‘past habits’ - หมายถึงสิ่งที่เคยทำ หรือไม่เคยทำบ่อย ๆ ในอดีต
พูดเป็นภาษาอังกฤษอย่างไร ไปฟังกันอีกครั้งค่ะ:

Did you hear it? เขาใช้วลี ‘used to’ เพื่อพูดถึงสิ่งที่เคยทำในอดีตหรือกิจกรรมที่เคยทำบ่อยๆ ค่ะ

Yes, and did you hear what we put after ‘used to’?

Let’s listen again! คราวนี้ให้สังเกตคำที่ตามหลัง ‘used to’ ด้วยนะคะ:

What did you hear? หลังวลี ‘used to’ แต่จะคนจะใช้คำกริยาช่องหนึ่งค่ะ มีคำว่า ‘play’ ที่แปลว่าเล่น และ ‘watch’ ที่แปลว่า ดู ซึ่งเวลานำไปใช้จริงจะเติมคำกริยาอะไรก็ได้นะคะ แค่ต้องอยู่ในรูปกริยาพื้นฐานที่ยังไม่ได้ผัน และสาเหตุที่ไม่ได้ผันรูป ก็เพราะเรามี ‘used to’ เป็นตัวบ่งบอกแล้วว่ากำลังพูดถึงอดีตอยู่ค่ะ

Now, let’s quickly practise the pronunciation together! The important thing to notice here is that we pronounce ‘used to’ together, not like it’s two separate words. Repeat after me:

‘used to’, ‘I used to…’, ‘I used to play football’, ‘I used to watch films.’

ได้ยินไหมคะ เขาเติม ‘didn’t’ หน้า ‘use to’ ค่ะ และหลัง ‘used to’ ก็เติมคำกริยาเข้าไปเหมือนประโยคอื่น ๆ Simple!
