Storm

StormThere is no question that one of the biggest tunes on the island this year has been Storm's 'Time To Burn'. It has the kind of drop that would rattle the foundations of clubs as large as Amnesia and Privilege. We caught up with Mark Spoon (one half of Storm and Jam and Spoon) in Ibiza to chat about the single and see if he can help us find Atlantis.

The single is a massive club hit in the UK and in Ibiza. Did you expect it to have such an impact?
Yes, but only because I have seen the reaction it gets when I have been playing it out. I have played it in nightclubs all around the world and it always gets a huge response? From Argentina to South East Asia, it gets a great reaction.

It's a lot tougher than your Jam and Spoon stuff.
Yes, the Jam and Spoon material is more of a concept, whereas my Storm project typifies the sound of my DJing sets.

Have you had much first hand experience of the effect 'Time To Burn' is having on the floors in Ibiza?
Oh yes. I have played in Ibiza twenty five times already this year so I am well aware of tracks popularity.

So how is Ibiza this year. Is it a vintage year for you?
It has been very good for me this year. The record is doing so well and I have played some excellent gigs out here. The kids who come to this island just seem to get madder and madder each year.

So what club do you like playing at?
I think it would either be Space in the morning or Pacha. I love both of these clubs.

Are you an Ibiza regular or do you only play when you know your tune is the biggest one on the island?
I love Ibiza but not for the clubs. I have been coming here for years and years. But when I come, I come for the nature, relaxing, touring the island. I have spent the last two days at Formentera. It is a cool place. People come to Ibiza on holiday and see nothing of the island but nightclubs. That is wrong.

So for anyone who has never seen anything but the dancefloor at Amnesia where would you recommend?
They just need to hire a car for the day and drive. Even better, if they can afford it they should hire a boat and tour the coastline.

And maybe check out Atlantis? Have you ever been to Atlantis?
Ah yes, I was there just the other night. There was a full moon and it was amazing.

So where is it then?
I'm not telling you.

Well who told you where it is?
A friend told me twelve years ago. The thing about Atlantis is that you have to look for it yourself, you have to find it. To find it you have to look everywhere, even underneath the earth.

Is that a big clue?
No, not at all.

So how do I know when I've found it then?
You will just know, trust me. I'm sorry, I'd love to tell you but I can't, I just can't. But if you try hard enough you will find it and you will never forget it. Believe me.
